This painting was completed during the LPAPA (Laguna Plein Air Painters Association) Paint Out with Carolyn Hesse-Low on January 18th, 2016. It was executed using a limited palette of Burnt Umber, Indian Yellow, Permanent Blue, Alizaron Crimson and Titanium White. The morning was cool and the tide was receding, revealing the sandy bottoms of the marshland. The tree trunks were created using an experimental cut back technique that I have been working on. A beautiful day with a great group of local artists. Special thanks to Carolyn for her thoughtful critiques.
